A lot of people have been asking me what degree they should be getting to be an entrepreneur in the future. Well, here is your answer from my standing point:
- Entrepreneurship (Some colleges and universities have an entrepreneurship major and I believe you can learn invaluable knowledge studying entrepreneurship at college.)
- Business Administration (If you want to start your career working as a manager for a startup or a small business, business administration will help you do that. Business degree holders are great at managing businesses and making important decisions. I believe that a business degree will kickstart your career if you are eager to work at a company before launching your own venture.)
- Management (Management is similar to business administration in many ways. However, if you want to be a CEO or take any leadership position at a company, you should have management skills. That is exactly what you will learn when you study management.)
- STEM related degrees (If you want to launch a tech startup, you can get a stem related degree such as mechanical engineering or computer science. Most colleges have entrepreneurship centers where you can meet management majors and get help from them to learn about the business side of things or you can opt-in for an entrepreneurship or business minor as most colleges provide these minors for people like you.)
- Finance (By studying finance, you will have immense knowledge about how money works at a company. You will learn about taxes, finances, calculations, IPO, valuations, etc. So basically, a finance degree will make your job easier as you will already have the knowledge about the financial side of running a business. Combine it with an entrepreneurship or business minor and you are set.)
